The purpose of the LUMME app is to identify the eating behaviors most essential to your success, identify the patterns and factors that stand in your way, and assist you with achieving better consistency towards your goals.
The answers usually aren’t found by tracking everything we eat or trying to fix our personal shortcomings — they’re hiding in the way we respond to everyday challenges.
The latest research suggests that what’s needed is simply better practice with the behaviors most essential to our success, and support with the specific risk factors and patterns that challenge our ability to build a consistent pattern of healthy habits.
I invite you to leave behind traditional food tracking that only looks backwards, and begin a new journey with a personalized A.I. Assistant whose job is to stay one step ahead, so you can achieve a healthier future.

Creating the most advanced platform for eating and weight management also meant putting the power of AI directly in your hands — so it can serve you in the context of your unique day-to-day life.
What to know:
AI is dynamic and your AI Assistant is private to you. It learns from every data point fed into it, becoming increasingly more intelligent about how to help you.
What to do:
Feed your AI Assistant’s brain. Some information is fed via the watch. Other info requested from your AI Assistant is presented with simple tap options to help track your progress, and understand the predictors of risk. In all cases, effort is minimal, and significantly less compared to traditional food journaling.

Now you can use your Apple Watch to track calories. So, now what?
Life-long weight control is about building healthy habits. And building healthy habits takes practice. The purpose of the LUMME app is to identify the behaviors most essential to your goals, and help you achieve better consistency towards the formation of those habits.
We start small.
Pick a few behaviors to work on. We’ll make some suggestions.
Report on how it went each meal. We’ll give you feedback.
Check out your Adherence Score and Insights to see how you’re doing.
Risk Alerts predict trouble, and show you how to avoid it.
We’ll build on your wins.

What you do:
Pick a few target behaviors that we can work on for the next week. We’ll suggest a few to start, like scheduled eating times or eating more vegetables, but you can decide what to work on first.
What you get:
We’ll help you keep track of them across your meals and snacks. As you master your target behaviors you can unlock more or make some changes at the end of each week.
Automated meal tracking and calorie counting for Apple Watch (4/5/6/7/SE) facilitates the habit-building practice, but is a supplemental and fully integrated AI program with its own personalization process.
Training your Apple Watch to passively detect your eating requires a few minutes of gesture Training in the primary places that you eat, and simply verifying your detections. It takes about a week to personalize.
In the absence of your Watch, create a simple manual entry for each meal and snack in your Diary.
What you do:
Feed you AI with a record of your eating. No need to look up what you eat. Records can be created manually or using a Watch-based eating detection.
What you get:
Feedback on the choices you’re making as you practice developing stronger routines with your Target Behaviors, and a proper view of progress through your Adherence Score.
What you do:
Take 30 seconds to record how you did on your Behavior Targets.
What you get:
Get immediate feedback on what went well, and how to get back on track with anything that didn’t. Watch your Adherence Score increase and your AI Assistant learn more about how to predictively support you in building consistency.
The Health Track is your day at a glance and shows your eating events around the clock and if there’s any trouble on the horizon.
GREEN is good and represents consistency with your goals and selected target behaviors.
YELLOW indicates some inconsistency with your goals and selected target behaviors. Click on it for more info.
RED indicates potential risk of faltering with one or more of your selected target behaviors. Click on it for more info.
As your AI Assistant learns more about your eating behaviors, it will generate predictions to stay ahead of potential risk with one or more of your behavioral targets, with tips to help you stay on track.
Risk alerts are always based on your behavioral data, or potentially lack of data.
Complete your behavior reports with each meal/snack to keep your predictions finely tuned.
A single adherence score measures mastery across all of your behavior targets for the week, with granularity on each, making it easy to understand exactly where you stand and what you need to work on to make progress towards your goals.
You can also see how your adherence relates to your weight over time. You’ll find this to be a better indicator of your progress and success.
LUMME is designed to work for everyone (that hates calorie counting). But, it’s not quite ready for the world. That’s why we need you!
With v2 already in the works, and many enhancements along the way, you are in an ideal position to shape the future. Please complete the in-app micro-surveys, and send any problems or issues that come up by email.
